Ok, so the knee jerk reaction is no, because this is a pokemon site, not a digimon site. But we also have other stuff, which we use to spice up our pokemon core, and we do this by not letting the spices overwhelm the main course. digimon is powerful spice to add to the mix, so we shouldn't do this lightly, hence the admin apprehension and this poll. So, here's my case for adding digimon to the site:
1: Easier to recognize the difference between different strengths; in pokemon, we must continuously look to the stats to determine which pokemon would be within the understandable limits and strengths of a given situation. there is also a large amount of overlapping powers, which will lead to trouble with originality later on in Perish's Life.
Digimon, however, has clearly marked and identified power levels, and each digimon has it's own abilities. on top of this, a particular rookie can end up turning into several different creatures in later tier, which will allow greater diversity than pokemon would *although recently pokemon has started taking more and more of digimon's path to branching evolution*. This would be very confusing, however, when we tried to compare digimon power levels to pokemon, so we would have to create our own system. This is both a good thing and a bad thing, so I'll leave that as a point for debate.
2:Strong fanbase: a large number of the site members, and indeed the staff, are already in the c-box discussing how much they enjoy digimon and the idea of adding them to perish song. As a site, we already know that the idea is well received, which simply means the problems that might arise will come from implementation, or inherent flaws with Perish's system.
I am confident that Perish can hold it's own, if we allow her to *falls into the sailor school of referring to the ride as female*. Implementation will be more difficult, of course; the site is currently pre-digital era, meaning the digimon would have to be altered significantly in concept to exist at all in Perish Song without the most unpleasant time skip in the history of the phrase. But I believe we can do it, and do it well. We're RPers, Arceus-damnit! If we can't make up some Applied Phlebotinum, then who can!?!
3: Rule of Cool. Perish Song lives and breaths Rule of Cool, so at our hearts this is probably one of the most important points: do we, as members of Perish Song, think that having Digimon in our pokemon RP site would be cool enough to have the digimon altered to fit medieval times, likely losing the "digital" aspect of "digital Monsters"? I think so. I think it would be really awesome. And if it would be awesome, than everything else is just how much effort are we willing to put into dealing with the proposed problems. I'm willing to deal with all of them. But what do you guys think?
