Most of the people of the Olivae Kingdom worship Ho-oh, the god of resurrection and hope. Those that receive messages or are recognized by this Pokemon will find they can telepathically talk to their first Pokemon. They're also said to be of pure heart, though whether this heart is pure good or pure evil is not known.
The people of this land have complicated rituals to gain magical abilities through their Pokemon. These rituals usually only work with the first Pokemon, as they have the strongest bond, but there have been rare occurrences the rules have been twisted. If something in the ritual goes wrong, it can cause casters and/or those receiving the blessing to transform into spirits, Pokemon, or worse.
It has been suspected that females have stronger connections to Pokemon, and as such they seem to show stronger Pokemon powers. Those with the strongest powers are sometimes considered to be pure-blooded witches. Witches must hide their powers from any outsiders, as Olivae is the only kingdom that welcomes them and they do not wish to be attacked. Although there is truth in this, males can also have powerful connections to Pokemon, but don't tend to be hidden away. As a result, this is only brought up when a female gets too powerful and must be put in her place, an excuse to keep females out of important kingdom events. Luckily, as long as they're among fellow Olivae, they will not be prosecuted for having supernatural abilities.
The Politics;; Rulers & Relationships
Since the kingdom see males as dominant, it will take high leadership skills and respect for females of this kingdom to receive a high ranking. For the most part, the Olivae Kingdom is traditional with a King and Queen, single heir, princes and princesses, knights and priests, then citizens in ranking. If there are any clans or guilds in the kingdom, their ranking is based on popularity in the eyes of both the people and the King. Sometimes those with powerful gifts will gain rank, but this is generally a secret practice.
Currently the kingdom is under demand for its popular wine. The last king had made a treaty to receive food and resources from its next door Kingdom, Crystal Kingdom, in return for this good. This treaty has given the Crystal Kingdom great power over those in Olivae, and some fear that one day they will be conquered. Gradually each day the Crystal Kingdom seems to sneaks the practice of slavery within Olivae's borders, and any citizen of the Crystal Kingdom can enter Olivae without any sort of paperwork. Each year it seems that Olivae Kingdom is losing its money and economic resources, even its wine seeming to worsen as droughts grow throughout the land. It is only a matter of time before Crystal Kingdom sucks Olivae dry.
The Diamond Kingdom often purchases Olivaen prisoners or captives to work in their mines. Anyone sold to the Diamond Kingdom will not be bought back and must work their way back to the Olivae Kingdom, although exceptions have been made for the mistaken selling of those of high rank. There have been two past conflicts between the two kingdoms, mostly over territory of the colder desert regions along their border, but there are no current disputes.
The island several days away from the Olivae Kingdom is considered to be covered with cursed, evil sirens that sing sailors to sleep. Though they're the most accepting of magic, they're also the most superstitious, so the people of the Olivae Kingdom stay clear of that whole island for fear of being trapped by the sirens; spell. It is unknown to the Olivaens that it is a kingdom on its own and is actually a perfect paradise for females and freedom seekers.
The Land;; Terrain & Production
The Olivae Kingdom has the largest area of all the current kingdoms, though it is also the most infertile. Most of the land is too dry of a wasteland to grow many crops, and they're limited to three: olives, grapes, and barley. They're famous for their wines and whiskeys, but they're forced to trade for most other food products and materials such as wood or metal. There is some ocean exchange and trade, but not nearly enough to help the failing economy.
The Provinces;; Arabia
The Politics: The desert providence once upon a time was a strong powerful empire that one day gradually fell apart and was forced under Olivae's kingdom rule, this land is the poorest within the Olivae kingdom. There is many artifacts hidden within the Desert providence, maybe one days these artifacts can be uncovered and used to regain power? The Arabians of the Desert Providence have been often captured and sold into slavery in Crystal.
The Location: Within the desert bordering Diamond's mountains.
The Stereotype: They are well known for their special breed of horses, who are highly intelligent and stealthy. It has been considered that the Arabians are mostly pointed-eared people who dance and perform, while petty thieves everywhere stealing tourist gold.
Most magical or religious beliefs have been lost here, turned into mere myths. Ritual usage is not at all accepted, and the people do not believe in magic. If one is caught or even suspected of being affiliated with the supernatural, they will be prosecuted and possible tortured to death. Females are even more strictly monitored, as witchcraft is a high crime and punishable by death. Some old stories are still passed down, but that is all they are: bedtime stories for children.
There are some god and goddess Pokemon lurking here, but in Crystal they are not recognized as deities. Rather, this kingdom created the concept of legendary Pokemon: rare, powerful creatures that are meant to be caught, not worshiped. If one of these legends are caught, there will be a great feast in honor of the trainer, possibly even a chance to work alongside the King.
The most recognized legend is Mew, a small creature that lurks near the Crystal Kingdom's Tree Castle. It seems to only visit certain people within the kingdom in different forms, very rarely showing its true self. Mew is believed to live in the Tree of Beginning, located near to the castle, but this is more than its home. The two of them are connected: if the tree ever died then so would Mew. The Tree is one of the central areas in the Kingdom, as crystals cultivated here can be used to capture Pokemon. This is the birthplace of the first Pokemon trainers.
Males here rule over all, and women's rights are non-existent. This affects the royalty as much as it affects the everyday people: a Queen must marry a male within a month, and princesses are forced into political arranged marriages. Females are not allowed to have multiple husbands, though husbands may have multiple loves inside and out of their marriage. Females of all rank are forced into arrange marriages and rarely leave the house, their main purpose just to take care of the house and do chores. Males, on the other hand, are expected to hunt, kill, train, and attend at least basic schooling.
This is the kingdom where the slave trade is the most dominant; in a way, Pokemon are more respected than the slaves here. Slaves must follow their masters' orders, no matter what, and are often tortured or made examples of. Slaves have been known to come from all over the region, and come from a vast variety of races, religions, and even powers.
The Politics;; Rulers & Relationships
This kingdom follows a traditional royal hierarchy, with their King making most of the decisions within the kingdom. Below the king is his chosen male heir, then other princes, then the knights and the official court scientists. The Queen rates below these, then the princesses and advisers. From there it drops to citizens and the various groups and clans. The powers between these are based upon how much the King admires or uses them.
This kingdom attacks anyone who is suspected of being associated with the supernatural, so it is wise to hide any abilities. The politics of this kingdom are calm for the most part, as they have plenty of resources and outside income. The citizens are rarely hungry and are all happy, at least on the surface. This kingdom is currently most advanced in agriculture and science, and have began a campaign to prove that gods and goddesses are just Legendaries meant for capture. They are rapidly growing in power and influence, and their fate will depend heavily on the choices of their King.
The Land;; Terrain & Production
The soil in the Crystal Kingdom is probably the richest in nutrients and minerals. The land is known for an abundance of trees and vast, lush grasslands. The castle itself sits on a large rocky area, which eventually morphs into the Diamond Kingdom's mountains. Secret caves litter the area, but despite the rockiness, there is green life everywhere, springing from the very stone. The soil is high quality, and many stories attribute this to the Tree of Beginning. Of course, the royal scientists have declared this false, with their complicated formulas of storms and mineral runoff. It isn't just this area, though: the entire kingdom is blessed with nutrient-rich soil, allowing trees and food to grow easily.
The Provinces;; Fae
The Politics: The faes were once a fallen angel race, called Elves, that lived within the Crystal Kingdom's tree of beginning, but were kicked out into the forests, when humans began to move in with their steel and irons weapons.. Eventually the race fell sick and fled to the safety of the woods to be guarded by the Xerneas and Celebi... However over time the elves grew bored.. They felt isolated and were gradually starting to die of inbred and impurity, as they were cut away from other elves. The inbreeding caused the elves to turn into Fairy type pokemon.. Because of this, the elves, started to trick humans into their mist and pretty much getting the humans to eat the fruit and trap into a happy fairy trance... This trance gradually turned the humans into Celtic believers, worshiping the Fairy God and obeying everything the fairy asked for. The children born from the fairy and human, forced the pure elven race to die out, only to be replaced by fae that followed the culture of their great Fairy ancestors. The fae still hide in their woods, still tricked humans into their woods to breed and make pets of the humans, but they also plan to use their Pokemon friends and fairy abilities to overthrow the Crystal kingdom. There is currently one Queen Fae ruler, whom has a male Celtic harem, and twelve daughters.
The Location: Within the forest that borders Diamond Kingdom and Crystal Kingdom.
The Stereotype: They're all sizes from the human thumb to human size, beautiful to horribly ugly, smell of Lilac to that of toxic waste, winged to half deer. In truth they are actually all sizes, colorful, depending on strength of humanity in blood winged or no winged, Smell so nice can actually hypnotize others.
Other: Do not eat their home grown food, any human that does falls into a trance that makes them want to live there and well pretty much erases their memories. Also if a human eats or drinks enough of their food they eventually become what is called celtics, people with powers to control ancient Fae language and is obsessed with God Pokemon as well as Fairy Type. Celtics are mighty people that will do anything to protect their fellow Faes, and are oddly drawn to loving Faes more so than their own race. Also adding to all this, the Fae Province has a huge rivalry with Dragon Province, that wants to free all the humans from the Fairy type grasp. Any Fairy type pokemon can become a true 100% Fairy with the right type of magic and spells, if they became their true form they will be elves with pointy ears and remarkable grace.
In the Diamond Kingdom, timing is everything. Most Diamonds are worshipers of the god of time, Dialga. The date and time of your birth will determine your destiny, as they also show the depth of your connection to the Lord Dialga- those lucky enough to be born on holy astronomical events may even become the next King or Queen. These select few will often hear the voice of the god, and thus are destined for greatness. Yet, strength also plays a role. Males and females alike must prove their power and leadership in order to earn the trust and respect of their people.
The main holy place in this kingdom is known as Diamond Cave, a massive cavern filled to the brim with mysterious eggs. As a right of passage into adulthood, people walk through the cave, trailing their hands along the unborn Pokemon until one hatches. This hatchling will become their first Pokemon and their partner, and can drastically affect their social status. If nothing hatches at first, they have other chances, though their general status lowers each time they walk and receive nothing. If no Pokemon emerges after their fifth walk, they will be branded a failure and possible ejected from the kingdom. It is an option to just never attempt a hatching, but those that do are nearly as low as those that try and fail, and though they remain in Diamond, they are often the poorest. Just be careful when walking in the Diamond Cave, as every attempt is a gamble with your fate on the line.
Officially, slavery is not accepted here. This allows the kingdom's mines to flourish, as the kingdom purchases other kingdom's prisoners to use as a cheap workforce. Slave traders break their monopoly on this trade, and thus must haggle and lie to rid themselves of their goods. The prisoners are usually forced to eat a certain herb that keeps them warm in the harsh mountain winters, though it is also mind-numbing and highly addictive. Each prisoner has a certain amount of time they must serve before going completely free, depending on the crime they are convicted of, but this isn't nearly as great as it sounds. The custom is mainly so that arrested spies and assassins originally from Diamond can be retrieved legally, without causing problems with other nations. Those that aren't lucky enough to have a shortened stay usually die before their term is up, as prisoners rarely last long.
The Politics;; Rulers & Relationships
Since this kingdom views females and males as equals, both genders can become educated and hold leadership offices. There is a sense of equality here, especially compared to the other kingdoms, and for the most part people are allowed to share their own opinions. However, something darker lurks beneath the surface. Diamond is well known for its force of mercenaries and assassins, and though in theory there is freedom of speech, people are rarely brave enough to speak out. More often, people hide their true opinions to avoid aggravating this shadowy army, and those that do speak out either become heroes or die.
Diamond's governing body consists of mainly their King and Queen and accompanying advisers, but unlike other kingdoms, they also hold a council of various guilds and those recognized as true heroes. Civilians have a decent amount of power as a whole, but are greatly divided by time of birth and whatever Pokemon acknowledged them.
Diamond tends to stay out of most arguments between kingdoms, keeping a strict policy of neutrality that most fear to break. Though they don't have the ability to support themselves agriculturally, their rich mines more than make up for it. If Crystal wants the metals and gems that are so important in their sciences, they must trade with Diamond, making everyone hesitant to mess with them. The people here are also the most militant, with their strict culture and stubborn natures, not to mention the large population of criminals. Should anyone provoke them into war, they can call upon vast reserves of spies, assassins, and mercenaries, and thus are not a kingdom to be trifled with.
The Land;; Terrain & Production
A cold, mountainous kingdom, with frozen soil not capable of growing much of anything. Diamond is known for their abundance of rich mines, whether they be silver, gold, gems, or any sort of metal. It purchases the prisoners of other kingdoms to work them, using a harsh drug to keep them under control. Militarily, they're nearly impenetrable, protected by jagged mountains and freezing temperatures. Rumors have surfaced recently of a cave system leading under the mountains, which would allow other kingdoms easy access for an invasion, but if they exist Diamond has kept them well hidden. The stories of a tunnel system beneath Diamond itself are true, and secret guilds and associations lurk in the shadows there.
The Somniis culture is based on dreams, and they worship the goddess Cresselia. Their coming of age ceremony takes the form of a dream, created by a specialized ritual. This dream allows them access to their innate Pokemon soul, and when the child awakens, they will see their own Soul Pokemon floating next to them. Only the people of Somniis have the ability to see these strange creatures.
Their Soul Pokemon also give them mystical powers, and the people of Somniis battle quite differently from people of other areas. Human and Pokemon are two halves of the same soul, and thus can merge together, sharing the one body. The stronger the bond between them, the more the human will be able to access their Pokemon's power in this form. At first, with a weak bond, they can shift between human and Pokemon forms, though they have extremely limited access to the Pokemon's actually abilities. As their connection grows, they will access more and more power, and eventually they will be able to combine to create a creature known as a gijinka for limited amounts of time.
On the surface, the Somniis Kingdom has the most relax rule by far. Any slaves that make it here are instantly declared free, and Pokemon who enter the magical boundaries will be freed from any binding caused by crystals or even telepathic connection. The strange magic that causes this, however, can also have strange affects on any new humans, and mild cases of memory loss have been reported. There are stories as to why this happens, but the ruling Twelve Maidens keep them safely locked away.
Since females are considered the more advanced and dominant gender, they rule the island kingdom with an iron fist. Females provide the protection, prophecies, laws, and more, while males are mainly the helpers and are rarely allowed near the female elite. Females will decide who they will marry and love, not males. As a result, several males have turned to worship the god Darkrai behind the backs of the Cresselia worshipers. It has on occasion been questioned if the island is truly as free as every female makes it out to be. Some would tell you, in the shadows, that it is better to be a slave than a free male trapped on the island.
The Politics;; Rulers & Relationships
The island of Somniis is ruled by a council known as the Twelve Maidens. A candidate will receive a certain dream or prophecy from Cresselia and soon after rushed to the temple to be tested by the other maidens. If the chosen one passes all of the tests, they will be accepted into the ranks of the Twelve and become one of the rulers of the kingdom. It is forbidden for any of the Twelve to mate, as this destroys their purity and holiness. If a maiden ever loses her purity, she will be sacrificed to the Goddess of Dreams as an apology. It is believed that a child born from a prophet is born with an evil soul and an incredible dark power capable of destroying the world. Of course, this has never happened, but impure Maidens are killed anyway, just to be safe.
The people of Somniis actually have no outside connections to the other kingdoms, sticking mainly to themselves. This is due to the stories of Sirens living in this part of the ocean: if one gets hypnotized by their song, they'll either kill themselves, drown, or be eaten alive... Depends on the story. Some kingdoms will say there is a portal to another world within the Siren kingdom, but people have never returned to their own kingdoms to confirm or deny the tale. These stories keep the island safe, and those rare few that make it often suffer from mysterious memory loss.
The Land;; Terrain & Production
The kingdom is extremely moist and is near to the Equator. The island is of a decent size, though much of it is unexplored. The tropical rainforests of the island provide plenty of fruit for the Somniis people. The ocean provides a good source of fish and other seafood, as well as free wood from ships that have been lost at sea. This kingdom is probably the most tropical region of the continent. The island is located several miles away from Olivae Kingdom's shores, and is usually dodged all together by other kingdoms due to legends and past disasters. Nobody ever leaves the island, as whirlpools and natural disasters- as well as guards- make the escape difficult.
