Elias Gil de Rei
Main Information;; The Known
Nicknames: Eli, Gil, various insultsAge/birthday: Twenty- Five, December twenty First, mid winter
Gender: Male
Kingdom/Providence: Diamond
Occupation: Prison Officer
Society/group: Prisoner
Rank/Class: Commoner
Weapons: Elias is familiar with using rapiers and swords and to a lesser extent, lances. He keeps a fewer smaller daggers hidden in his boots and sleeves. There's no "just in case" for them he actively tries to use them whether it's to whittle at some sticks or to carve flesh.
Magic: Elias didn't spend as much time as he'd like with his Lucario, Raven, however the pokemon taught him plenty. Mainly about auras and how to manipulate his own into a weapon. Elias can use his aura to guide weapons to their destination without touching them. Weapons wielded in such a manner can be dodged the same as if it was being drawn by hand. He has a dagger attached to a long, light chain that he uses to surround his opponents for a strike. However using his aura in such a manner takes a lot of concentration and can't be used to lift anything heavier than about fifteen pounds. Elias can use his abilities to sense other people's auras and their movements in absolute darkness.
Aura Sphere: Elias gathers his aura in the palm of his hand and throws the ball at his target.
Force Palm: Concentrating and gathering his energy into one swift strike in an attempt to temporarily stun them.
The Mirror Room
Face Claim: Gilbert Nightray from Pandora HeartsAppearance: Elias ended up close to six feet much to his delight. Coming from a short family he was the black sheep in more ways than one. Black wavy hair is useless to try and manage, unlike the straight blond locks of his siblings. Despite his eyes being a warm honey color, to most they're cold and distant. Elias's round face is capable of a wide range of emotions, though it's rarely anything but morose. His broad shoulders are hunched in and long thin fingers are curled up into fists as he stomps around. His clothing is fancy enough for his tastes while still being easy enough to remove should the need arise. A white shirt is usually covered in a long black coat with black pants and knee high boots. Elias is rather fond of hats as well and wears one when he can, preferably with feathers. A myriad of scars cover his body. From small knots of scar tissue to faint curving lines, nearly all of his body is covered in them.
Open and Public
Personality: Elias is a very loyal man. He has to have someone to idolize and follow. If he were to ever get the chance to lead any sort of group he would probably fail spectacularly or still be chasing after someone he views stronger than he is. This "master" he needs to follow becomes one of the most important people to him. Elias will do anything he is asked, no questions asked. Regret may follow but he will still do it in the moment. Killing is no issue to the man. Life and death aren't as scary as they once were. He's faced death five times and won. While Elias won't hesitate to slit someone's throat or carve in their flesh, he will make their death as quick as possible. The kind boy from his youth is still inside him, but shows itself in different ways.
Loki is the only person Elias is regularly kind to. He puts the man on a pedestal and runs around doing his bidding. Being treated like a pet or slave isn't insulting if Loki is the one doing it. On the other hand the man doesn't care much for the other prisoners. He was one once and knows what they're going through. Matter of fact he sees them both as a reminder of a time he'd rather forget and as weak men who refuse to try and survive in the 'games'.
Elias does see himself as better than the prisoners around him. He is arrogant and conceded when around them, mainly due to his hate for them. This behavior hides heavy insecurities. Elias is dependent on those he sees as authority figures to shape his self esteem. If insulted by another officer or the warden, he will slip into a morose state. If praised he will bounce around like a happy puppy. Failure isn't kind to him either. Prone to tearing himself up over things like ruined meals(Elias is an expert cook by the way), he prefers not to mess up by letting prisoners escape. Failing Loki is unforgivable.
The Secret Side of Me
Greatest Desire: To please Loki and make him happy, no matter the cost to himself.Greatest Fear: Loosing Loki to his beast form or it resulting in the Warden being killed.
Greatest Secret: Elias can cook. It's women's work but he just can't stop cooking and baking. Promise not to tell?
Out of This World
Pokemon: Elias had a very loyal Lucario before it was taken away from him. This is His-story
History: Imagine the most plain and boring family you've ever known. That was Elias's family. They weren't remarkable in anyway. They weren't rich or poor, they had the standard amount of kids and their chickens laid four dozen eggs every three days. The sun rose and the sun set. Elias was born and things moved on in their daily routine. Elias was irritated by just how complacent his family was. His golden eyes and dark wavy hair didn't match the blond hair and green eyes of the rest of not just his immediate family but aunts, uncles and even cousins. Apparently once every few generations someone like him was born. A left over remnant of a dark haired ancestor who's genes were all but buried under the tsunami of blond hair.
Elias was a trouble maker as a child. There wasn't a wasted opportunity when it came to pulling pranks or swiping sweets. The infractions were minor and didn't need the authorities involved. Elias usually worked for his victims to pay off the debt. The bigger crimes against the populace didn't come until years later. Elias was given the opportunity to visit the cave of eggs as a right of passage into adulthood. He was confident in ability of an egg hatching on his first visit and he was correct. As he ran a hand over a blue and black egg, it cracked open revealing a baby pokemon. The young Riolu was eager to please and perfectly malleable in Elias's eyes. He had been intent on molding Raven into the perfect partner and accomplice. He hadn't counted on the Riolu's sense of right and wrong keeping him from teaching it all the wrong things. So Elias stayed at home and did his duties to the homestead. He named the Riolu Raven. It was strong yet mysterious and perfect for what the Riolu was capable of.
One afternoon in summer, one no different than the one before it, Elias sat with his partner under a tree reading. Raven was napping in the sunlight while the boy skimmed through his sisters diary. It was a good read, plenty of blackmail material in it. Raven stirred, hungry after it's sleep. Without looking up from the pages on his knees, Elias fed the pokemon a cookie and continued to scratch it's ears. Both were rather startled when Raven began to glow and change shape. He grew taller with a bigger muzzle and chest fur. As they sat there in silence the Lucario growled happily and spoke telepathically for the first time, scaring his partner.
Raven began telling him about auras, eager to repay Elias for taking care of him as a pup. The man was clumsy, not sure if auras even existed. He didn't get very far before he left home for the sea and their lessons were put on hold. It was stifling at home and no one seemed to understand his need to be different and not become assimilated into the melting pot that was his family.
With Raven at his side, Elias set out for the coast with a dream in mind and no money in his pocket. Becoming part of a pirate gang wasn't quite as easy as he first thought. He had to prove he could fight, which wasn't very well. Raven out-shined him in such skills. The pokemon was the reason he was finally accepted into a crew in the first place. They saw him as an asset, while Elias was a cabin boy, just a spare hand to do whatever was needed. That didn't sit well with Raven and he resumed their aura lessons and how to use it to fight. Elias learned quickly and rose through the ranks of pirates. He never became a first mate, but he was in the top five at least. A fact he was rather proud of.
If it hadn't been for a botched stroke on a merchant vessel, the pair could have been captains of their own crew some day. Instead what had been a ship full of cloth and foreign spices turned out to be full of military grunts. The crew took down quite a few but were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. Elias and Raven were shackled and shipped to the mainland. The man knew exactly what was going to happen to him. Everyone talked about it, what the Daimond mines were like and the crazy warden who ran it. He would never see Raven again and he himself would probably go insane off of the wormweed. His fate was already sealed. His lucario gave a tearful goodbye and promised to somehow find his way back to Elias. An empty promise but a promise none the less. Elias just shut his eyes and pretended it was just rain in his eyes as Raven's aura disappeared from sight.
Elias didn't exactly adjust to the mines well. He discovered he had claustrophobia and that wormweed was rather nice and nothing else mattered after awhile. In time he found his place among the other slaves and became just another face. The work was hard, digging new tunnels and pushing heavy carts of minerals uphill and out. Muscles he didn't even know he had grew, while his skin paled in the lack of light.
Elias hadn't been there but a few days before he heard about the "games". Fights to the death with the victor given the option to become a free man. Apparently the warden strictly enforced this competition. Elias heard rumors of a terrifying beast and that it and the warden were the one and the same. He scoffed at such stories, until he was selected to take part in one of these games. Only a monster would make prisoners fight in such a manner, or so he thought at first. It was survival of the fittest and in order to live, Elias had to let go of what humanity he had left. He refused to form alliances and instead killed on sight. It was difficult that first time. He nearly lost a leg at one point, but he stood covered in blood and gore at the end, victorious.
Elias didn't go free however, instead he became akin to a champion for the warden. At least that's what he called himself. His ability to use auras gave him an advantage and intrigued the other prisoners. Elias fought in five separate 'games'. Flesh was lost to weapons and mine accidents as he saw Loki more and more often. It didn't matter if the dark haired man won the games he would fight over and over again for the warden. Elias isn't exactlly sure why but he was told that he would be an officer as a reward for winning the fifth game. The mere fact that the man in charge thought he was strong enough to work beside him made the man giddy. There was no chance he would ever say no.
Elias took to his new duties happily. It was a chance to get revenge against some of the prisoners who had treated him badly. He loved the new sense of power, but most of all he was content to be at Loki's side. He admired the man and possibly even had a crush. Loki didn't look it but there had to be a hidden side to the blond.
As an officer, Elias got to go above ground with more regularity that he ever had as a prisoner. The sun was no longer a reward, it was a fact of life. The ball of light rose at dawn, traveled across the sky, and set at dusk. Around noon it shown straight down and toward afternoon it had a bad habit of sending light straight into his eyes.
"No slacking." Elias snarled swinging the dagger on the end of it's chain. The length of metal was warm in his hand, having been there for over an hour. The officer couldn't really see just then whether or not the cart in front of him was being pushed in the right direction, but a bark from him was usually enough to keep it going somewhere. Blasted sun, when could he go back underground?
The prisoners auras were almost as bright as the sun in his eyes. That was one reason Elias preferred the cool depths of the mountains. The darkness dimmed auras and soothed his poor, abused eyes. Maybe if he complained to Loki he could get underground watches. A stab of unease twisted in his chest at the thought. That would be letting Loki down with a task expressly given to him by the man. The fact the warden was in charge of assigning all shifts in a rotation was beside the point. It was bad enough a prisoner had recently escaped. It was a failure that Elias would not tolerate. If it meant working himself harder, he would. There had to be something wrong with him and as soon as Elias found out what it was he would make it disappear for good.
The clanking of chains to his left abruptly stopped. The dark haired man, immediately on edge, strode in their direction. The dagger and chain rose in the air, poised to deliver the punishing strike. There was no reason the men shouldn't be working. "Don't stop!" Sometimes the prisoners got the idea in their head that they could just say no and take a break. Elias was quick to remind them why not.
The dagger lashed out with lightning speed tearing through the mans shoulder. The wound wouldn't slow him down, but the blood made Elias purr in joy. At least until he saw what had caused them to stop in the first place.
Battered. Filthy. Exhausted. Those were the first words that filtered into his mind. Covered in dirt and blood, and barely standing stood a pokemon. Not just any pokemon... As its aura flared brighter than Elias though possible in it's worn out state, he recognized it. Heck, he'd known as soon as he'd glimpsed it's face.
"Raven." Certainly that choked voice couldn't be his? Every sound was muffled as his whole being focused on the Lucario.
At the sound of his voice, Raven's rigid body relaxed. His eyes shown with joy and love. His master... he'd finally found his master! Walking slowly forward until he stood face to face with Elias, the pokemon reached out a paw to touch his cheek. I've finally found you Eli.
At the touch of the familair aura against his own, Elias's knees buckled. Warm fur enveloped him as the pokemon hugged him. "Raven." Arms rose of their own accord to return the gesture. He'd given up ever seeing the lucario again years ago and yet... "Raven!"
"I'm here." Raven lifted a paw to rub the top of Elias's head and ruffle his hair.
Voices finally broke into the officer's revere. If the prisoners were talking that meant they weren't working and more importantly they had seen his break down. The dagger whipped out again, straight through someone's chest. As their aura went instantly dark, the weapon curved in the air like a snake, coiling and swinging before breaking through three separate piles of rock prisoners were carrying. They would have to pick it all up and it would take twice as long in such small pieces.
"Get back to work!" Elias growled, still clinging to his partner.
Raven made a noise in his throat of disproval, but when he spoke it was with acceptance. You've changed."
"So have you." Pulling away, Elias stumbled to his feet. "I will never again be the man you knew before."
Raven was quiet for a time, reflecting on the many trials he'd endured to get back to the fractured man in front of him. Yes we are both different than before. Still I have kept my promise, and we will not be separated again. I vow once more. The lucario placed his paw above Elias's rapidly beating heart. We are one, brothers until the end.
