xx Face Claim
Inukashi from No. 6xx Appearance
Casey is a somewhat underdeveloped teenager who could (and does) pass as a boy. She's about five feet, three inches tall, and she weighs close to one hundred pounds. Her skin is the color of caramel, which goes well with her dark brown eyes and long, unruly dark brown hair. She has a cool, confident swagger about her; but she's always prepared to act on a moment's notice, making her somewhat restless and twitchy during tense moments. Casey's most defining trait is that she's missing her right hand. What's left of it is a scarred stump that she tries to hide whenever possible. A problematic habit of hers is accidentally forgetting that her hand is missing, this is known as phantom limb syndrome.
Clothing-wise, Casey's attire consists of a single patchy, tattered outfit befitting a peasant. She wears a maroon colored button-shirt which has a sleeve torn off up to the elbow on the left side, with the right side untouched and long enough to cover her missing hand. For pants, she has a dark blue set of trousers whose leg left leg is cut up just above her ankle, while the right is a little above her kneecap; it's fastened with a tan colored belt. For footwear, she wears a simple fair of brown sandals that make her a good two inches taller. Finally, she carries around a large black hooded poncho with tattered and frayed edges that stops just short of her knees.
A notable feature is her slave brand, specifically a small Arcanine's head on her back, between her shoulder blades.
Open and Public
xx Personality
Casey is a teenager that has been used and abused by many people over the course of her short life, hardening her into the kind of person who would rather go it alone than trust anyone for fear of being hurt again. A former slave to a royal family, Casey has a developed a deep-set hatred for the nobility, and there's no greater joy to her than causing some snooty and cruel noble a lot of trouble. While she hates nobles, she isn't particularly picky about who she steals from; rich or poor, they're all fair game, and she tries not to think about how she hurts them whenever she filches their hard earned valuables. She has a soft spot for children or stray Pokemon though, much to her annoyance. She's always putting on a tough guy act to impress or frighten others, and growing up in the Crystal kingdom has given her the inclination to act like a boy so that she's taken seriously. Because she's a slave, a thief, and a girl, Casey is ridiculously secretive and guarded; there's nothing she hates more than people who try to poke their noses into her business, and she usually responds to such attempts with deflective non-answers and silence. Despite that, she's a deeply curious girl, and it's not uncommon for her to eavesdrop or spy on others. Usually it's to get information on anything worth stealing, but sometimes it's just for fun.
Despite being afraid of forming bonds with people, Casey struggles with the desire to have a friend; someone to watch her back. These conflicting feelings often make her liable to shift from amiable to hostile whenever she catches herself getting close to someone. Before she does, though, she's a somewhat pleasant (if secretive) person to be around, if being a loud braggart who tends to punch people "affectionately" counts as pleasant. Unfortunately, the more she likes someone, the more she tries to push them away. Name calling, physical abuse, insults to friends or family, nothing is off-limits for her.
Pokemon, however, are one of the only things that make her happy. Whether it's the fact that they have more freedom than humans or simply listen better, Casey will grow more attached to these animals than she ever will a human. That said, she tends to favor the "tough" looking Pokemon for obvious reasons. Caring for a Pokemon is out of the question, as she doesn't think she can support herself a needy animal. In the end, they're fantastic creatures that she admires, but feels too hesitant to befriend.
The Secret Side of Me
xx Greatest Secret
Casey's greatest secret is her status as a runaway slave, something she wants to stay secret. She will do anything to ensure that nobody knows this, even if it drives her to murder. Anything, anything is preferable to going back to that life.xx Greatest Fear
In the same vein, Casey's greatest fear is being outed as a slave and returned to her masters. The very thought terrifies her, and the threat is enough to give her nightmares some nights.xx Greatest Desire
Casey's greatest desire is to overcome her fear of relationships and find it in herself to trust someone with her life, secrets, and happiness. She feels like this goal isn't going to be achieved any time soon. She isn't getting any less scared of strangers, after all. This is Her-story
xx History
Once upon a time, there lived a peasant couple in the Crystal kingdom. They were serfs indebted to an influential noble, and for years they struggled to pay him his dues. A series of bad deals and poor harvests meant the noble and his personal guard marched onto their land and demanded some form of payment. The husband, wanting only to save his own live, offered to sell the noble his wife as a slave. The noble accepted his offer, and the wife was branded with the noble's family crest, trained in all manner of household chores, and then promptly sent to his estate. For the rest of her days, the wife would curse her husband tenfold for selling her into slavery and impregnating her beforehand. The wife did not tell the noble of the pregnancy, for she feared he would surely have it killed. For months she labored as the baby grew in her stomach, until it became impossible to merely sit up. Fortunately, the wife had befriended many of the other slaves, and when the moment finally came, they helped deliver a healthy baby girl into the world, but at a terrible cost. The wife did not survive the birthing process, and when the noble discovered the child, he saw her as a suitable replacement for the wife.
At the age of five, the child was branded like her mother and trained to be a slave, again like her mother. Unlike her mother, however, the child was immensely resistant to being told what to do, and her little rebellions were the cause of a great many beatings as the years went by. The girl was denied a name because of the status she was born into and out of the noble's spite, but this did little to crush her spirit. When she was old enough, the child managed to exploit flaws in the estate's design and guard placement in order to escape to the city; though she always returned out of fear. It was during her first visit that the child christened herself Casey, a name she heard a town crier shouting. He was a petty cutpurse that was giving the guards the slip for days; a feat that would inspire the child - Casey, to become a thief.
Unfortunately for Casey, her focus on thievery only made her life harder. She would practice picking pockets during her daily chores and rarely succeed, earning her beatings, having her dinner fed to the Growlithes, and being forced to work into the night. None of this made her give up her dream, however. Though her body was battered, her spirit and sheer stubbornness made her practices continue, and as her successes outnumbered her failures, she felt like she was ready to hit the market and make some coin of her own. Her pickpocketing skills, as good as any self-trained thief's could be, brought in a small pile of coin that made Casey feel as powerful as any noble. Her confidence would make her reckless, and it only took a sharp-minded merchant to catch her trying to swipe a golden necklace from his stand to make things take a turn for the worse.
Upon being caught, Casey's punishment was received immediately, and before she knew it, her right hand was separated from her arm and forgotten about. Upon being discovered as a slave, she was sent back to the estate, where she was punished by having her wound cauterized while fully conscious. Before she was allowed to pass out, the noble told her that she was to be sold to the market.
Physically and mentally weak, the prospect of being sold to a different, potentially worse master made Casey desperate. Just before morning, she stole one of the guard's daggers and fled from the mansion. She stayed in the woods, only venturing outside to steal necessary supplies from the city. Once she felt strong again, Casey resolved to put as much distance from the noble's estate as she could for fear of being recaptured by slave hunters.
She was fifteen years old at the time, and she's still running.
