The Reaper's Game

[Fenrir]

A man in a a dark suit stands before you, his eyes hidden behind black spectacles. He holds himself like a man in charge, and he is smiling knowingly at you.

"Welcome to the Reaper's Game. You are now a Player. the rules are simple;

1: I will take your entry fee. It will be returned to you if you win Our Game. Should you lose, your entry fee is forfeit, as is your right to exist.
2: You are now in the Underground, or as we Reapers prefer, the UG. You can see the citizens of the Realground, or RG, but they cannot see you.
3: This game requires that you play with a partner. You're going to have to make a pact with a fellow Player once the game starts. Trust your partner, or you will be erased.
4: Within the UG are creatures called Noise. They will try to erase you. You cannot harm them unless you have a partner who can fight with you.
5: Each day you will be given a mission by the Game Master. Fail the mission, and you will be erased. Only one player has to complete the mission for each day, but can you really trust complete strangers with your very existence?
6: Oh, I almost forgot: The only way to become a Player in Our Game is to die. Welcome to Pergatory."

OOC: The mysterious man is NOT KILLING YOU. HE'S SAYING YOU HAVE ALREADY DIED, AND HE'S TAKING YOUR SOUL INTO HIS GAME.

The man holds out his hand, and you feel a draining sensation for a brief moment, and then he turns to walk away. He turns back and throws a small black thing at you.



"It's dangerous to go alone. Take this." The object appears to be a black button, with a needle on the back so it can be attached to clothing. On the front is a white skull motif. When you look back up, the man is gone, and everything fades to black...


OOC RULES: Ok, so any number of characters can join this event. The first day will be relatively simple, but each day will become progressively harder and harder. A prize awaits those who survive the final day. Each day you will be given a mission in the IC thread, which I will link to HERE once it's made, and the Players will have to do it before the IRL day is up. If you fail, you're character will be removed from the event for the rest of the week As the man above says, only one pair has to complete the mission for all the Players to progress. You will have to make a pact with a fellow player to fight the Noise. If you have no partner and you attempt to do anything other than run from the Noise, your character will be erased from the event. Death in this event will not mean death in the canon storyline.

To start, I'll post what the characters see when they first wake up in the actual game. Anyone who wants to join mere need post what their character does. Due to the time constraints of the Reaper's Game, I will not be waiting for everyone to post. Once someone posts what they do, I will post in response how the world reacts, even if other players haven't responded yet. At the same time, Players don't have to wait for me unless they interact with either a Boss Noise (will be clearly marked as such), or a Reaper (again, will be clearly marked). Once you have a partner, (which you should do ASAP, btw) I will count that team as a single player for purposes of my posts (that is, but of the members must post before I respond. I will post every time I see that both members of a team have posted, even if not all players have. Sorry for being repetitive, I'm just trying to explain this part clearly, as it is a bit confusing). Once a Player makes their first post, my first response to them will also explain what their entry fee was. They will have to play without whatever is taken from them. Players can join after the first day, but be warned the Noise grow more powerful as the days go by, and it will become more dangerous to try and survive till you find a Partner to pact with. Additionally, No players may join once the final day (next Thursday) starts, because they would not have earned the prize if the Players win the game.

Oh, and the Player Pins (the skull thing) gives you the power to READ MINDS! But it doesn't work on other Players, or on Reapers. It only works on people in the RG.

[Violet Grimshaw]

       Violette looks at the man standing before her. She wonders how on earth the man got in. It's nearly midnight, how could those guards have let him in.. at midnight? 

       As the man turns to Violette with that smile, a chill runs up her spine. "Heya there, sir! What are you doing here!?"

       When the man starts speaking, Violette wonders if the man is utterly crazy. She wants to shout at him to leave, she wants to go bed, she wants to just walk by and leave the man to rant, she even wants to throw something  the man's head to shut him up. Anything to get this over with. However, something about the man makes Violette's mind consider that he isn't lying. Perhaps it's his glasses, or perhaps it's his suit which look ever so similar to the attire of her friend Geoffrey. Perhaps it is merely the way the man holds himself. Does it matter why Violette seems to want to listen to the man's rules for his "game". 

       As she listens to the rules carefully, she thinks that all of this is too intricate to be a dream, yet it is too abnormal to be a joke. She hears the segment bout the underground  and is basically unphased. However, when he gets to the "partners" part, Violette thinks out how she's done with partners before. Usually, Violette has no problem with others, however, people often get frustrated at the power difference between her and themselves. Something tells Violette that this "game" won't hold her own powers nearly as true as it could..

       Then comes the subject of erasing. "Noises" and "the game master" all of this confuses Violette slightly, but she continues listening regardless.

       As the man utters his last phrase, Violette's eyes widen. "Die..." Violette whispers under her breath. "Die!? What do you mean, Die?! Are you--" Violette gasps as a draining feeling engulfs her body. As the man turns to walk away, Violette tries to speak, but a feeling of breathlessness covers her before she can. Cheryl, Violette's partner who had remained quiet through most of this is now nudging Violette with her stem. "Madam Violette, please, stay with me.."

       Finally, as the man throws the small black object toward her, Violette falls to her knees as she looks at the object. She feels a final surge of her power flow through her,  releasing a purple pulse of energy as she looks to her partner, who is, herself, glowing purple. What.. are you doing.. No! Cherry stop! Don't! Violette tries to say as her eyes begins to close. As  her body falls to the ground, all the lavender girl can see is her partner, preparing to follow Violette wherever she is going. With the man gone, Violette feels nothing but a longing to see her old friends again, that is until the darkness overcomes her mind all together.  

[Prince Altair]

Prince Altair;; The Reaper's Game

Altair shivered from within his cell. Another night in the market place and still nothing had happened. The slave traders had found his weakness and had decided to use it against him whenever they got the chance. He sat curled up in one of their smallest rooms, ready to snap. He was trying to hold himself in as long as possible and he hoped and prayed to the spirit of the desert that there would be someone to get him tomorrow. Someone who was better then these idiotic slave traders. 

He was beginning to doze off from hunger and exhaustion when he heard footsteps coming down the hall. His eyes widened, no longer effected by his weariness, as he prayed even more that they wouldn't stop in front of his cell. Which, of course, they did. He heard the lock on the door click, without any key jingling, which was strange, and the door swung open with a loud creek. Altair could feel his body trembling from the fright, but he knew that he couldn't allow himself to break. 

Something felt very off however. The room got much colder then usual, even with the cool concrete walls around him. When the man's voice began to talk about this mysterious Game Altair knew that he couldn't be a trader. He sounded much too sophisticated for that. His voice was smoother and darker then that of a slave trader who usually had loud, scruffy, angry voices. 

As the man continued talking, Altair became more and more nervous about this "game." He stood up quickly, trying to keep himself as far away from this man as possible. He seemed even scarier then the traders, and not being able to see him made it even worse. He knew he had one shot at this and that was running past him. Using all his force he pushed himself from the cell, shoving past the man, but finding him standing in front of him once again as he moved down the hall way. He had heard all the the game rules by now and didn't care to join. 

In desperation Altair lifted his foot in an attempt to knock the man out with a kick, but his heel was caught in midair. Unable to escape the hand holding his foot, he felt it sap every ounce of energy from his body. He flailed and slipped to the ground without the ability to get back up. He fought the urge to die, gasping for breath, and fear overtook his mind and body. Would he never see anyone again. But it wasn't long before the little light that he could see was plunged into a darkness blacker then a room without door or window.

[Erra]

A girl with pure white hair and dress was merely lounging about on the island, far far away from the other islanders... She wanted to just die, to fade, to be forgotten... She hated how she couldn't do anything to help those in need. She knew the truth... yet the truth was never to be revealed by her.. She saw things.. Things she did not want to see... She wished she never came to this island... Wished she just died in the sick bed long ago... She just.. wished to fade away... A creepy man stood suddenly before her wearing nothing but black. She knew nothing of who he was, or where he came from. He was probably part of this whole evil lie... This whole stupid island... He was probably nothing but a toy there to screw with her. He could be a vision sent by cresselia, a curse... He smiled at her, how dare he taunt her like this.

He then stated the rules and pretty much stated she will be joining his game, whether she liked it or not. She dared not say a word to him, her words were always transformed to lies, her tongue was no longer her own... If he truly was there.... It mattered not, for she will pretend that he was not.. She picked herself up and began to walk away, not at all trusting this new person on the island...

She suddenly felt her body draining.. Almost as if she had used her own powers, she turned around to see the man had his hand opened and was doing something speaking to her... He through a black object to her... Her lose of power forced herself to use Swanna's power of Roost... Only to fall into a deep sleep that not even Swanna could wake her from...

[Odette Nevermore]

A girl wearing nothing but bright red clothing and a sword was running around causing mayhem in a small village, she really could not control herself, all she cared about was killing others, her eyes only saw red... That was only what mattered was red... Red blood, red feathers, red here, red there. She was unbeatable, predictable, and well cocky. She had already killed three families in the neighborhood and was working on a poor Mother of three children, when a man suddenly began to talk to her..

A man wearing black, how ugly he was, she wanted to slice him, make him red, make him feel her wrath, whatever her wrath was. He smiled knowing all about her.. He started speaking, she ran to attack, but it seemed the closer she got the further he seem to gone, almost like she was going no where... He spoke nonsense, but all she heard was red noise, anger, and who knows what else. Her blood red sword seemed to drip with the angry cries of the people she slaughtered within this very town.

The man whom she wanted to kill now, but could not, opened his hand.. Almost drawing out her anger and power... Making her feel dizzy... exhausted... She fell to her knees, dropped her sword... all power gone..... A black thing was dropped in front of her... ugh such an ugly color.. Then she was out.. To who knows where.

[Sir Geoffrey]

       Geoffrey looks at the man who has appeared before him. He lets out a small gasp as he looks upon him. Geoffrey was definitely not expecting to see someone at so late an hour. He doesn't understand why the queen lets her henchmen just wander around without reason, especially with such disregard for style. 

       As the man begins to speak, Geoffrey looks at Faith with a smile that made both of them think he was crazy. As the man continues o speak, however, Geoffrey begins to feel slightly uncomfortable in his presence. Even if the man is crazy, or lying, or joking, Geoffrey still doesn't like the thought of such things.

       Games were never things Geoffrey was ever that interested in, and this one in particular doesn't seem very promising at all. Geoffrey nods, along with Faith, to the man after he finishes his explanation of the rules. He begins to speak to the man as politely as possible.

       "Thank you for asking sir, but I'm not really interested.."

       As the man turns, apparently to leave, the feeling of uneasiness disappeares all together. This would have been a relief to the young man, that is if the feeling hadn't been replaced by an intense feeling of being drained. As Geoffrey's hand reaches for his heart, his body begins to sway as he falls over to the ground. Faith looks at Geoffrey, and then at the man, who finishes with a final comment after throwing a strange object to the pair. 

       Faith grabs the object in her hand, and then she grabs Geoffrey's hand. She watches quietly as her master's spirit seems to flee from his body. A tear forms from her eyes as she sees Geoffrey reach up to her with his last breath. In a split second, Faith grabs Geoffrey's arm, not his sleeve, but his arm. This is her own way of wishing to follow Geoffrey to the grave, for what else has she to live for, than Geoffrey? Faith feels her body weaken as both of the pair's bodies lie quietly on the ground.

[Stryker]

As Stryker was out at night fishing for food, a human encountered him. A dark, shady looking human seems to materialize nearby. "The heck are you spouting off on stupid human? A game? I want nothing of your game, get out of my sight. Why are you even near here?" He yells at the man, peeved and annoyed that the human distracted Stryker from a nice meaty Magikarp. Play with a partner? He thought, even though he did not want to listen at all. Sure hope it's not a human. he thought paying attention now. "WHADAYA MEAN DIE?! I like my life thank you very much." He cried out blatantly objecting. When the weird human clearly ignored Stryker's objection and threw a small black thing to him, which he quickly caught with his mouth, he grew more annoyed. But as he opened his mouth for more protests, he felt the strength to stand leave him. What in the reverse world is going on? He thought before everything faded to black.
