As he lacks the expertise with weapons or even the art of fighting with fists, giving Aurelius a weapon would be an utter waste. Instead, he depends on his magic for anything related to self-defense.xx Magic
Aurelius' own magic is initially a combination from the blessings of Darkrai and the powers granted to him as a son of Cresselia. In turn, he possesses spells of both dark and light disposition. However, as the Lesser God of Dreamless sleep, he can now safely combine the two elements to create a new, 'null' force. It has no defined element, making it neither weak against nor strong against any other element besides Darkness and Light; A spirit of either element will suffer as if they were struck by an element opposite to their nature. Innately, he can also sense where places have been 'touched' by either Darkrai or Cresselia.Null Blast: In case that the user must, he can combine both darkness and light to create an anomalous energy. Aurelius himself dubs it 'Null'. Clashing the two intentionally will cancel each element out, forming an orb that pulls in all matter within 100 feet with an extremely powerful attractive force. Once a sizable projectile has been formed (usually, it would be about 50 feet in diameter), the user can launch it at high speeds at his target. On contact, it would release all of its collected debris in an explosion that is dependent on its size.
Matter Shield: Combining the two elements in a different way can have a different effect from brutally clashing the two. Instead, the user may give structure to both energies before mixing them. If done correctly, a hemispherical shield that repels matter and energy of all kinds is created. The diameter is 14 feet with the caster at the center. Any inside of it will be protected from any four attacks (even of a divine nature) no matter what . However, once formed, another being cannot enter its interior.
Null Void: A gray orb of null energy can be launched from Lucan, causing whoever is hit to fall into a deep, dreamless sleep. The orbs can be released in barrages.
Pulseless: The god can manipulate the null energies within him at will, firing them off in volleys or firing pure beams.
Flight: His characteristic gray, slightly angular, crescent wings appear on the user's body, and he can fly. Glittering, ethereal 'dust' falls from them constantly, much to the annoyance of Aurelius and the awe of others.
Spectral Manipulation: The user can manipulate light to the effect of creating it, removing it, and morphing it to create illusory phantasms. These illusions, however, always possess the image(s) of birds in one form or the other within them. In the same manner, he can manipulate and detect other illusions. If he so wished, he could remove them. Strangely, he is more adept at banishing illusions than creating them; most illusions are childsplay for him if he knew what the nature of the illusion was.
Sleep Manipulation: The user can 'fade' out of the real world and into the realm of dreams. Walking through the dreamworld, he can step into the dream of another. He can banish the dream or nightmare to bring them into a dreamless sleep. Alternatively, he can wake them up.
The following are very hazardous to Aurelius' health. By separating the energies that he himself is composed of, he can become vulnerable to destroying his own heart and soul. Using any of these moves once will severely disorient him after their casting, and using one or the other once more will induce a five-day coma. If he dares attempt a third casting by resisting the great pain his essence will be in, the boy will die. Even after just one spell, he could be considered by many as not being 'battle-ready'.
Dark/Dazzling Pulse: The powers of darkness and light can be controlled adeptly by the user. They can call upon them in blasts or rains of smaller blasts. To summarize, it is just the user throwing about the raw energies at another person in multiple forms.
Lunar Dance: A hereditary gift from Cresselia, the user can channel the powers of the moon to heal another person completely. However, he sacrifices his own consciousness as well. When the target is completely healed, the user's body falls under the calming effects of the moon's energy.
Dark Void: A gift from Darkrai, it is an ability that allows the user to fire off a ball of swirling, dark energy. When a target is hit, they would instantly be consumed by a dark orb. Inside of it, they would be instantly put to a nightmare-filled sleep.
The Mirror Room
xx Face Claim
Haku from "Spirited Away"xx Appearance
Being born from Cresselia, Aurelius could be called a woman by those who didn't know any better. He is endowed with a fragile form, appearing as if he could shatter at any moment. Short, black, and silky hair flutter in the bounce softly as he turns, and it flows like the rippling water in the breeze. The cheeks on his pale, porcelain-like skin are small and firm, and his lips are thin. Yet, they emit a beauty that would make many women or men want to them to meet with their own. The only parts of him that can be called 'masculine' are his eyes. Their jade color burns brightly with the force and presence of a man when he is interested in something. The man prefers to wear simple clothing and simple colors. His preferred choice of clothing is a white kimono with a deep blue inner robe that peeks out of the sleeves' shoulders. The white sleeves extend all the way until it reached just beyond his elbows. He ties a purple sash around his waist to keep both from flapping. His blue trousers are not very long, settling down below his knees if he were standing straight. They flare wide around his legs, like a hakama.
A god, of course, should not always retain such a human look. When he exerts his power in tremendous amounts, his appearance begins to shift automatically. Aurelius' eyes glow a pale gray. Crescent-shaped wings enclose over his waist, also gray and, if you look closely, more angular than a normal crescent.
Open and Public
xx Personality
That radiant beauty of his comes with a radiant, smiley face. He appears to be a very happy person with not a single worry to mope over. Aurelius is very sociable and would not be afraid to talk to anyone, no matter how creepy or scary they seem to be. He accepts that there may be a reason for why they are the way they are. This could become an issue, however. Combined with his lack of experience in the real world, he has the potential to insensitively come up to some member of royalty and attempt conversation with them like they were a commoner on the street. This can lead to ridiculous escapes or a short stay in a cell. It might even hurt him. He's a lot more sensible than he looks, though. In the presence of a person who would probably kill him if they knew too much about him, he would keep his wits about. Aurelius definitely has the foresight to tell if involving himself with someone would be his downfall. His intuition is one of his greatest aspects; he can detect the malice in someone's eyes, in their voice, or even in their presence.
But, a certain naivete comes from lack of experience with the outside world. Ironically, he is vulnerable to deception. Everything around him is totally new. There is a new set of Maidens, a new set of people, and a sort-of new kingdom (the same culture, sadly). He will have a strong desire to know about everything around him, coinciding with his social insensitivity in hilarious ways.
'Aggression' is a word that leaves a bitter taste on Aurelius' tongue. He prefers to use the term 'self-defense' to describe the behaviors of his fellow priests. He acknowledges that he cannot control others, and allows them to do as they please. However, he constantly reminds his followers not to target the Maidens or Cresselia. "Our goal of balance must be upheld", the delicate young man told the men in his service like a father would tell his children. He cannot be all-seeing, so he places trust upon the chosen of Darkrai.
Personally, he prefers zero conflict. A nice talk should be a nice replacement to a fight, hence why he did not bother to polish his more offensive abilities as well as a 'demon of Darkrai' should have. It is in his nature to not flaunt his power, as the repercussions would be devastating to him and his cause. If the people were to make a brute out of him, he could never be the role-model that he desires for his flock.
The conflicting powers of Cresselia and Darkrai crush at his essence, creating a fragile stability in his body. When Aurelius becomes stressed, this stability breaks as with his mind. It takes time to restore it, but before then he is very much broken.. He abandons logic for his primal urges, becoming something akin to a feral animal. To stop himself from potentially hurting someone, he either isolates himself or, if isolation is impossible, he inflicts enough pain on himself that he eventually loses consciousness.
The Secret Side of Me
xx Greatest Secret
Another one of the reasons why he likes to frequent the Temple of Cresselia is because of the numerous amount of women out and about. The females over there are fantastic! Oh, and he can sing. Minor detail. It comes with the face, and it can all be yours for the small price of a soul: your's, that is.xx Greatest Fear
He deeply hopes for his desires to not be impossible to accomplish. There are multiple ways this could happen which include the death of either Deity. He must not allow his followers to allow Darkrai to completely plunge Somniis, and perhaps the entire world, into darkness. Likewise, he must not allow the Maidens to completely eradicate all darkness and blind Somniis with brilliant light.xx Greatest Desire
Aurelius eagerly wishes for a world that embraces both darkness and light. Too much of either, he feels, would be the epitome of chaos. This is His-story
xx History
Somniis was always the sexist country that it is today. But, back then, the amount of citizens that never questioned the rule of the Maidens was remarkably high. Of course, this was because of the paradise that they were a part of. Escape was unnecessary as it was impossible to enter the kingdom. Other nations could not find their way into Somniis, which meant that wars were highly unlikely to start. The kingdom was self-sufficient, as everything required for life was provided by the islands. Crime was low, and the meaning of being a guard was non-existent. Why would you question the power imbalance if it meant questioning the wills who brought this paradise to you?One man did. Magnus, a twenty year-old man of Somniis, dedicated much of his time to preaching on the street that the female superiority was unfair, and that men should get equal say. His attempts to appeal to his fellow men were brushed off rather harshly, but no one ever did anything to silence him; he was just a kingdom idiot that should know better, but will never. But, he was determined to have them realize that something was wrong. Magnus never gave up his beliefs even if the others didn't want to believe. Someone out there would agree with him, he hoped.
Someone did not ignore his wild preachings. The Goddess responsible for the female supremacy, Cresselia, was amused by how the hard truth could never pierce the thick skulls of her people. His words plinked off of their minds like a sword to a metal wall. They both accepted that someone else may share his convictions, however. When a snowball rolls down a mountain, it will become a boulder of destruction. She had come to the conclusion that she should silence him herself, and in a most painful way imaginable.
One night, she appeared in his cottage before him, taking her humanoid form. Just like how the reaction of men were described in the legends, Magnus fell head-over-heels for her. For that night, they bedded, and not once did he realize that he was sleeping with a stranger that he had met just a few minutes ago. His mind was captivated by her charm, and he grew addicted to her beauty.
When he awoke the next day, the man found the woman on the ground, in labor. Again, his mind was clouded by her divine allure. There should not have been any logic in a baby developing overnight. He never questioned it once when he helped her give birth, and it was unlikely that he would ever do so. Magnus carried the newborn in his arms and looked up so that he may show the woman her beautiful boy.
His eyes were greeted by the most gruesome sight he would ever behold: the woman was a grey, decaying corpse. Her empty eye sockets and her open mouth indicated that she died as she released a final, agony-filled scream. Alarmed, Magnus looked down at the child that should have been moving. The same horrific look as his mother was chiseled on his bony face. The man's mind shattered. Everything occurred too quickly for his brain to compute. His dependence on the image of the beautiful woman did not do so well when he encountered the same woman's remains.
Only one tangible thought remained in his head. Magnus set the child beside his mother and he tied a rope on the ceiling of his cottage. Then, he set a chair under the rope and stood upon it. Shakily, he set the loop of the rope around his neck...
...and he kicked the chair forward.
Minutes after the man's death, the illusion that surrounded the bodies of the woman and child faded away. Cresselia stood up and picked up the child like he was trash that needed to be disposed. A boy had no place in her kingdom to be 'recognized'. He could potentially become a symbol for men to rally for, and the paradise would be lost. She stepped onto the sandy beach and, without hesitation, threw the child into the tossing waves. With the deed done, the Goddess reverted to her original form and flew away.
The child could have died of exposure or drowning, but nothing happened to him that would hurt him. He had a protector in the shadows. The God, angered by this deception, guided the newborn to his domain, and he washed up inside of a mysterious cave. A black shape placed the baby on his shrine and silently gazed upon it. Darkrai considered the consequences of placing his blessing on him. The clashing powers of the deities could prove to be too much for the baby to handle later on in life, but he had nothing but faith that he would survive.
When the phantasm disappeared, a group of native Pokemon gathered around the baby. As if commanded by an unseen force, they provided it with warmth and food. Every day, they would continue to do this. Every night, however, he would be subject to multiple dreams and nightmares. In them, a pitch-black silhouette of a man would greet his subconscious body and teach him the basics for communication. The baby understood everything being taught to it as his Demigod brain was developed enough to effectively retain information.
Sixteen whole years of the same thing every day made the teen, now given the name 'Lucan Aurelius', why he was even in this cave. By then, he understood literally why he was here, but he never truly understood why he was kept here. For the first time, he asked aloud why he was stuck in the cave and why he was spared. Also for the first time, Darkrai revealed himself before the boy.
He explained that he was the perfect person to become his protege, his physical will in Somniis. Cresselia's lies must be silenced. All will be explained over time, he stated. There is a 'truth' that must be revealed to the masses, but it is a 'truth' that would destroy their way of life forever. Aurelius requested more information on this 'truth'. What was the point of being his protege if he did not know how he could help him. But, Darkrai repeated his statement that everything shall be given to him as time goes on.
Then, Darkrai placed Aurelius into a deep sleep. If he is to become his hands, then he must learn how to embrace both sides of his heritage. Like a father ushering his son into the woods for his coming-of-age ceremony, the god of darkness locked his priest in his own nightmares. He disappeared again, leaving Aurelius to fend for himself inside of the Dream World.
He trembled with fear, but the silhouette that guided him in his first sixteen years of life provided him with many hints to what he must do inside of the dreamscape. The land he was in was a forested one, filled to the brim with shadowy figures and monsters that he must escape or combat. As if with natural talent, he erected illusions to evade their piercing eyes and fired upon them with spells of white and black. But, Aurelius found himself not one step closer to finding the exit. What could he do but fend off hungry animals or hide on top of the trees?
That's when he remembered: he was in a dream. More importantly, he was in HIS OWN dream. No one can trap him inside of his own head because he should have full control over his own head. Realizing now that the true goal was to learn how to manipulate the dreamscape, he snapped his fingers. The forest turned into a castle, and the monsters became obedient to him. Aurelius grinned at all of the power he had, and found that he had enough of this sleeping business. He awoke in the cave with no way to tell how long he had been asleep. Sixty years felt like a few weeks. His stomach grumbling, the boy went to catch himself some food.
On his way, he encountered a white-haired man who was battered and bleeding on the cavern floor. There was barely any life in him, but he dearly hoped that there was still a chance of revival. He placed his hand on the man who was, by now, knocking on death's door. Cresselia's power of healing saved his life, which was ironic since he ended up becoming Darkrai's first 'priest'. The man began to leave, seeming to not noticing the fallen body nearby. When Aurelius came to, he witnessed 'Nox Eterna' meld with the shadows. Obviously, this was the doing of his 'father'.
Curious about where the man came from and where he was going, he gazed out of the cave at the kingdom on the horizon. Keeping in mind the purpose that Darkrai gave to him, he flew out... and went off to meet his destiny: to stop his mother and her lies. There can never be light without its darkness, which is the same for a coin:
There exists no such thing as a coin with only one side.
