Shinri Tankyū-sha Sai;; Also known as the Truth Seeker Sai. Named and given to him by Darkrai at a young age, these are Kauss's main choice of weapons. He would much rather use these for swift close combat fighting then anything else. 

Kunai Knife;; Not only a throwing knife or dagger, Kauss will use this for many swifter movements that he wouldn't normally be able to make with his Sai. He finds these trust worthy weapons that continue to show him reasons of having value. 

Shuriken;; Along with the Kunai knife Kauss will often use throwing stars of many shapes and sizes. 

xx Magic

Lie Detect;; Kauss is literally a lie detector. With the mark on his arm he is able to sense a truth or a lie. The mark then allows him to decipher what exactly the lie is and then puts the truth in it's place. What happens is that the mark takes the words of the person, hears the tone, sees word choice, and translates outer aura to decipher what the person is lying about and then Kauss is then allowed to see the truth with his right eye from a person's thought process as long as they are thinking about that matter. His eye then glows gold just very briefly, almost impossibly quick, allowing him to kind of "catch" the truth with his eye. However, he cannot do this unless the person is talking. And yes this can work on more then one person at a time. It is always online. He can always tell when someone is lying. It never turns off. 

Shadow travel;; (Percy Jackson much? Yeah back off.) Shadow travel is a simple power that allows him to travel through shadows. It doesn't matter how much shadow there is, as long as there is shadow he can travel through it. He cannot however travel if there is no shadow. Also, the more people he travels with the more energy is taken from him. 

Illusion Cast;; Kauss has found that he has the uncanny ability to create illusions. Not very big ones. Mostly little illusions that you would notice in the corner of your eye, or not notice. He often uses this to hide himself or to hide other things. He will even use it on his face to his his real true reaction often times. The bigger the illusion, the more power that is drained from him. And he can only hold them for specific amounts of time. The longer he holds an illusion, the more energy drained from him.

xx Appearance

Interestingly enough Kauss is not a very complicated person when it comes to image. Simple is his way to go. He would be found mostly in a simple black cloak or a robe of a similar color.  His hair is a silvery blond, and just falls around his head and face with no particular "style." The only fancy thing you may find on him is a ring of pure silver, with image of a lion on it. He takes this wherever he goes. 

His skin is a light complexion that goes well with his silvery hair. He stands tall, at about 5'7" with authority. On the back of his left hand going all the way up his arm and extending across his shoulder blade there is a dark brown marking, plaguing his skin. This Tattoo is the source of all his power. He will always wear gloves over his hands and long sleeves to hide his mark.

As a man of Somniis, and considered branded by Darkrai, Kauss is one of the lowest considered man in the kingdom. Its like Cresselia tries her hardest to keep him quiet and yet stuck on the island in his own personal prison. Most people don't really know him by face or appearance, but they would know him by the nickname that the Maidens gave to him. Almost as if Cresselia has put a large rounded target at the top of his forehead. So, you can imagine the kind of person that Kauss might have become. 

Traumatized. 

face-value Mysterious, dark, and dangerous. These three words describe Kauss on the out side.

When it comes to secrets he holds them tight and keeps them behind iron doors. He's a tough safe to crack and you can bet that he has traps placed to keep himself safe. Even if you are super close to him, he will still keep you "safe" from his secrets. He sees himself as a ticking time bomb and worries that if someone gets too close not only he will explode, but they will also. 

From his experience of survival, Kauss is not afraid to take drastic or extreme measures. Up to the point of murdering to get what he wants. Its not a habit that he goes around and kills for no reason, but he's not afraid to. He has "desensitize" himself to the sights, smells, and sounds of death. He doesn't do it for pleasure, and its usually not for personal matters. Its more about protection and control.

When he speaks, his voice is quiet and commanding. He keeps his mood calm no matter what situation he's in. It helps to keep him stable. If he's angry, he won't get hyped up and yell, in fact he'll stop talking all together and shun the person until they get the point that he's upset. When he is trying to catch attention, he will stand in front of everyone and wait. Wait until they realize he wants to speak to them.

Over protective. No other word could describe this part of him. When there is someone he cares about he will do just about anything to keep them safe from harm. He would even die for them.

behind walls What could I say that would describe the way he acts off the charts. His inside world is completely different. He's found that he needs to have a strong wall around his heart because every time he's opened up to people they have used it against him or abandoned him because of it. Or, on the other hand, he hurts people with his own problems. So he keeps them to himself.

One thing about Kauss, that will haunt him for the rest of his life, is the fact that he is obsessed with the idea of innocence. Innocence and Truth. These two things are pure and absolutely essential to the balance of life in his mind. Which is one of the reasons he came to notice Lola. Thanks to the darkrai mark on his arm he can sense lies and see the truths behind them. This has played a part to make his obsession even worse. It makes him anxious and paranoid about people and things around him. He trusts no one because of this, unless he you absolutely never lie. For this very reason he hates the maidens and even Cresselia. He has a passionate black hate for them. 

Kauss needs to have control. He needs control over himself and he needs control over the people around him. For his sake. No he doesn't want to be a leader. He doesn't need that kind of control, although he would make a very good one. No, he needs control to keep his mind and his body safe. Which can make him even more dangerous, since he has nothing else to loose. 

The Secret Side of Me

You don't want to know his greatest secret. Its one that he himself doesn't even know about. Although, for the most part, No one knows of his Darkrai given mark and his lie detecting abilities. This is what brands him as the "Dark Deceiver" and so he keeps it hidden from anyone he might come into contact with. Even fellow Darkrai followers.

His greatest fear is to completely loose control over himself. He has lost plenty of control from the mysterious maiden of the waters.

This is His-story

xx History

The story starts in Kauss's room one night. He was 5 years old when things began to change around him. He became really close to his father, even at a young age, but his mother was the complete opposite. She took care of him until the age of five when she started to neglect him. This was when his father began to take dear care of his little son. They became nearly inseparable as the years past by.

But that wasn't the most important part of Kauss's days as a five year old. Oh, no. It was the girl that he met on the beach She was always sitting by the waves. And for some strange reason his parents never saw her, And they always took it as a game or nonsense when he did tell them about her. These two things shaped his childhood.

His father, being a blacksmith, taught him as he grew how to shape and craft things with metal and iron. He learned eagerly how to do this and soon became quite the master of it. Even at such a young age as 10. Of course he wasn't as good as his father quite yet, but he seemed to have a specialty with it.

On the flip side of the coin, the girl by the ocean waters taught him something quite different. She taught him things that he normally would never be taught, like language and math. She also taught him the basics of fighting and defending himself. Which he began to love and admire and found himself begging his mother to allow him to take classes.

After about a week of it, his mother finally agreed and he began to learn under some of the best male fighters on the island. However, there was only one who Kauss came to trust with all his heart other then the man he called father. This man held secret arts, those of which he taught very desperately to Kauss. Though Kauss couldn't possibly understand why. His master took him under his wing very quickly after he found out that he was in need a fighting trainer.

This man was also a devote follower of the truth god Darkrai. So when he found a young person he could teach about the god he ate it up. Everything that he taught to Kauss he told him to keep secret from everyone else and to not let anyone know what he was learning. Kauss agreed, he was ten years old after all. Old enough to make his own decisions right? (;3) He could feel a secret being hidden behind the man's words, but he could not detect a lie so it was almost impossible for Kauss to ever get anything out of him using his truth seeking powers.

At first it didn't really matter to him. He got to see the unknown forest and visit all kinds of places on the island. He also got the opportunity to go fishing out in the ocean. They only went far enough from the Island to where the good fishing places were, however, they always kept sight on the shore so they didn't get caught in any magic that might keep them chained to the Islands.

As he got older his life began to change drastically. His father became seriously sick from a flu that just wouldn't allow itself to be healed. Kauss began to have dreams of plenty. Clashing dreams. Nightmares and pleasing dreams. His nightmares were always about death, and perhaps, maybe someone calling out to him from within the dream, but he never found the voice. His dreams were about the girl from the waves, which he had resorted to calling Pearl because she refused to tell him her real name. Friends that he thought he had and could trust began to leave and turn against him because he would tell them how he truly felt and about the things he was learning.

The news of the mark on his arm began to spread across the Island. It got so bad that when the maidens heard about it they sent a message to the whole Island to find him and bring him to them. The problem with that, was the fact that only a select few had had learned of it and had spread it, but no one could remember who it had been who was victim of it. Even the people who used to be Kauss's friends couldn't even remember his face. Even his mother had no record of the mark on Kauss's arm. It was as if someone was trying desperately to keep him protected.

The only happiness he felt throughout his days happened during training and when he would sneak out at night to see Pearl. Now being the age of 13, with hormones flowing through his body, he grew a very deep love for the girl in the water. He would do anything for her and let her do anything to him. He detected no lie from her and so hung her every whim as truth.

He became a hard and serious boy as he was constantly training and hiding and taking care of his father. This routine went on for about three months until everything began to fall apart. His father died slowly and painfully with Kauss being unable to do anything about it. Merely grateful that no one else got sick from him. His training became much more intense and they began to train within the tunnels under the Island. His nightmares got worse and his dreams got more intense. His time with Pearl became more and more of a need then even a want.

And he hated it all.

It was on a very normal night that everything finally collapsed. The night of a murder. Fifteen years old and someone had finally found out about his Darkrai mark once again. This time he had to do everything possible to keep him from telling the maidens. Which in the end resulted in the man's death. Having excelled in the secret fighting techniques the man was no match to him. He was taken down easily enough from an accidental struggle. He took the body and hid him underground, burying him there.

He kept it to himself. Telling no one. Not his mother, his master, or Pearl. A deep sense of fear settled in his heart and he locked both this and the memory of the murder deep inside his heart. He watched as an investigation was sent out and nothing was found. He waited to be apprehended and that day thankfully never came, but in some way he wished it had. But after convincing himself that it wasn't his fault he soon forgot about it. Mostly. He did find that it had slipped into his nightmares a lot more often.

At the age of 16 he met lola. He became instantly intrigued with her. Almost like a sick obsession that he forced himself to control. She reminded him so much of the girl by the water. She was frail and beautiful. Innocent. He saved her from falling in the water and afterward "conveniently" bumped into her several times over the next two weeks. She soon got used to him and even enjoyed his company. He could have easily befriended her brother too, but he was afraid that he might remind him too much of himself. So he stayed away from the rest of the family.

He never touched her, never forced her into anything, only hung out with her when he was free to. They always did what she wanted or Kauss would plan "special nights." But even this could not completely pull him away from Pearl, whom he could not pull himself away from.

And then lola was attacked by Jeremy and Kauss found them before anything could happen. His anger was so great that when he had taken her back home he went to find Jeremy again. He took the man out quickly, making it look like a suicide had happened. It wasn't until he left the alleyway that he realized he had taken a life once again. This time it had been his fault. He had done it on purpose. It was to protect Lola, but still...

This time, it didn't take him long to lock this murder away in his heart. Right there and then with his back turned to the scene and his head held tall and his back stiff he walked away. And he forced down the regret.

But of course he was seen that night, because two years later he found out that the maiden of silence, the Island's residential assassin, was out to find him and kill him. Fitting wasn't it? A year he was able to avoid her by living in the unknown territory and the underground temple, continuing his training with his master, who had no idea he was hiding.

When he did find out, his master became very angry. But together they thought of a way to fight back without getting found out and without killing the girl. Which Kauss was non-too-happy about.

There was a struggle in the end and both his master AND the maiden died. His master was slain by the maiden and the maiden was slain by him. Little did Kauss know that Cresselia had been anticipating this and quickly chose a new Maiden of Silence.

Lola.

When he got back he heard about the fire and her being rushed to the Cresselia Temple. When he heard she was to be the new Maiden his heart crushed.

Ever since then he has been in hiding. No longer seeing anyone except Pearl. Afraid of being seen by anyone. And yet, he is in constant watch, as if playing chess and waiting for the next move.
