A Day at the Beach[closed:Machina]

[Ozdin]

Ozdin walked along the beach, noting how there weren't as many people at this part of the sandy shore. Ozdin figured it was a good place to spend the afternoon. In fact...Ozdin looked around, checking just how many people were on this part of the beach. It was almost deserted. Ozdin figured there was a party farther down the coast or something that everyone was going to. either way, the emptiness meant plenty of room to try something out...

"Hey, Sho. Want to see if that wish thing actually worked?" The Smeargle nodded happily, and sketched Ozdin with Sho's ears. "Alright! Let's try this out!" Ozdin and Sho shared space, becoming the gajinka that was ShOzdin. They stood for a moment and mentally took a tally of their move list. and blinked in surprise. they actually had over 600 moves, and ShOzdin knew them all by name, and by heart. They stood there for a second just taking it all in. "Time to have some fun!"

Ozdin hopped into the air using fly, then decided to play a little game, and threw several moves right after one another, stacking their effects.Sword's Dance! Agility! Sunny Day! Growth! ShOzdin burst across the beach, flying so fast that they threw up a blaze of sand behind them, and then hit the water and did likewise with it, their sheer speed sucking a wave of water behind them. As they circled around back towards the shore, ShOzdin shot skyward, then fell back down at the beach, readying a fist as they came down. Giga Impact!!!

The shock wave threw the sand out in a wave, blasting the few unfortunate humans who were there with the particulates. ShOzdin stood up, breathing heavily from the exertion, and looked around him at the small yet devastatingly deep crater he had just made in the beach. "That. Was. Awesome." ShOzdin nodded to themselves, enjoying the feeling of power, and mentally preparing to go check out the underwater sections of he beach...

Now this was something, something indeed. Wishes came true but usually only in dream. Except this wasn't a dream. One moment Machina, Maiden of Spirit, had been walking about humming and prancing like usual until she tripped. She never tripped. Lies. She did trip at times but usually she'd be able to see her hands when she looked up. This time that was definitely not the case, oh no. There were paws... fuzz... "I'm... fluffy..?" It took her quite a few moments to figure out that the wish-upon-a-fluffy white thing had actually come true. It just didn't seem plausible, but that was another thing. The one moment she was puzzled the next she was celebrating. Celebrating and naked. Her clothes were too baggy and slipped right off her. Least she could button her coat to her.

"Duran! Duran! Look at me! I'm fluffy!" The girl sang and pranced, shaking her tail at every direction possible. There was a twig in her tail but the moment she noticed it, the item was in her hand-paw being swished about like a shorter magical wand. In her other was her far too long staff. The ghost had appeared from his other half's call and only stared at her like she was flower growing on a rock. A very, very strange sight.

He was silent, the complete opposite of the dancing Braixen. "Duran! Duran! Watch me fly!" With that the female began running toward a higher rock in her excitement, leaping off much to her soul half's worry; only to find herself rolling down a smooth path into a very large boom. No really there really was a boom. It buried her that's how she knew. Poking her head out, Machina shuffled about throwing sand every which way. "Booms and sticks, magical wishes! See Duran? I didn't fly but the Boomer sure did. See?"[/i] The soul was still silent but looked toward the direction of the crater. Unfortunately, his female transformed half had done the same except she was running toward the culprit.

"Oh Falling Star, did you make a wish a not-so-falling-star?" the girl called, hopping and skipping toward the creature. Her long coat dragged against the sand like a long cape. Alas the girl could not contain her dancing so when she did manage to get up close, the female was doing a little side-stepping dance. That a twirling, can't forget the twirling. Little did she know that she wasn't actually speaking a single word but rather she spoke in the language of pokemon. How fun indeed.

ShOzdin flew up out of the crater he'd made, only to see a pokemon...a Braixen, by the looks of it, dancing and chittering at him excitedly. "Oh Falling Star, did you make a wish a not-so-falling-star?" ShOzdin tilted his head at the pokemon.

"Uh...wait. wish? Did you meet that little pink pokemon too? Yeah, I made a wish. It's pretty cool, don't you think?" ShOzdin teleported behind the Braixen, leaning backwards on thin air as they hovered above the ground. "I have every pokemon move ever!" ShOzdin didn't like talking with people, but they found the way this Braixen spoke amusing.

"My name's _Sho^Ozdin. What's yours?" ShOzdin felt themselves drift down to the ground, and they realized they'd fallen out of sink when they spoke. Carefully, each half focused on nothing, and they felt themselves realign, they're body regaining it's lightness and the hovering returning. That had been a close one. Names were bad when you are two people...

OOC: Because ShOzdin is in gajinka form, I'm assuming he can understand her.

Machina continued to move around, her feet unable to meet the ground at the same time thanks to her excitement. Her coat was covered in the dust that her tail gathered up but best of all were those ears. She just could not stop wiggling them. She even momentarily stuck her twig back in her tail just to tug on the long things. The moment the other replied, the girl's actions mimicked exactly what she felt. In surprise her tail and ears shot straight up, the fluffy bundle behind her wagging once more when she responded, "Pink? Was it pink? No, no the star that did not fall was not pink but white. Fluffy, like me, except on all fours. Fluffy pup. Yes that's it. Does the Falling Star know of another wish granter?"

He continued though, stating how he knew more 'magic' than one could possible know. "Ah! Prevailer of tricks and trickery! A presenter in many disguises it seems." A little giggle escaped her, "Fly in the sky oh Shooting Star of many masks, shapeshifter of the shadier arts!" Now she was back to dancing around, twirling her longer walking stick over her head. Twirling around to find that the being was behind her this time. "Trickier of tricks! Do I get a treat?" She hummed, still spinning about. She had noticed that Duran had disappeared, that wasn't surprising, but that was unimportant. Whispers in her head chirped excitedly and absently, some vigorous and others hissing.

Then he asked for her name and the female drew unnaturally still. Even more so as she had been so active just a second before. Large eyes stared at a boy with what looked like a serious expression on her face. Then a sly smile draw across her vixen lips. Pounding her walking stick into the ground so that it could stand on its own, Machina attempted to climb the smooth so that she could at least seem a little higher than her Braixen body would allow. She balance on the swirl, kneeling so she wouldn't throw herself off. Then she answered with a sweep of her coat, "Machina Amaedeus, Maiden of Spirit at your service -" She stopped, a barking laugh echoed from her, "Or you are of service to me many would say. Whichever way, Tis not a box or a sphere. Maybe a cone, cones are nice."

With that the girl slid to sit on her stick, kicking her feet out like a child would on a cliff. A smile plastered of her face. She had probably shocked the boy, not like she noticed though. "Nice to meet you Shooting Star and Silent Painter." The girl greeted, giving a name to both the boy and the spirit whose form she could not truly see. Amazingly she said not a single word nor had a single thought on how the boy could remain in the air without wings or ghosts to keep him afloat.

ShOzdin cursed themselves. What kind of artist were they to make a mistake like that? "Yeah, the pokemon, if it even was a pokemon, was white with red eyes. Sorry, I should have been more clear about that..." The Braixen's ears wiggled as ShOzdin showed off. Then she called him a tricker of tricks or something like that. The way she spoke was really kinda cute. But then she stood up on her stick and said she was one of the maidens.

ShOzdin rolled over backwards in the air, simultaneously enjoying the freedom of flight while trying to hide his own laughter at the statement. One of the maidens wished to be a pokemon? it's possible, but the idea of a pokemon maiden was too silly to not giggle a little bit at... ShOzdin finished the roll, and landed.

"You're one of the Maidens? Well, I don't know the maiden of spirit, so I can't tell if you're telling the truth, or not...aha! I know, you wanted to see a trick? How about this treat?" Mind Reader! ShOzdin attempted to read the Braixen's mind, but they were unable to make sense of the babbling in the little one's head. ShOzdin frowned, holding their ears to shut out the racket. "Gah! You're head is full of noise! I can't even hear myself think! Time for plan B..."

Trick! Telekinesis! ShOzdin pointed, and the "Maiden's" walking stick flew out from under her and into the waiting hand. Before the suddenly falling pokemon could hit the ground, however, they then caught her with their telekinetic power, and flew themselves and Machina up into the sky, where they could get a clear view of the island, in all it's glory. ShOzdin pointed down bellow, towards the Temple of Cresselia. "I'll just test you're knowledge. If you can answer my questions, I'll believe you're really the Maiden of Spirit. Does the Maiden of Spirit's room have a window, and if it does, which window is it?"

"Oh? So it was the same not-so-falling-star?" The Braxen girl hummed, placing a paw to her chin in a thoughtful matter. Except she wasn't thinking, more like playing with the fuzz that covered her face. Though his reaction was something strange to see - still floating but now he was leaning, er... rolling. "Falling Star you roll. Are you a sandshrew in disguise?" Somehow she ended at that conclusion when he had landed, her tail still wagging happily beneath her. He sounded skeptical of her claims but then she couldn't blame him, the spirit maiden wasn't exactly the most active social of her sisters. So instead the girl clapped at the prospect of a treat. "Treats and sweets! Is it candy? Maybe some honey nut?"

The prize was no edible treat but rather a trick in treats disguise. Oh how tricky he was! She never noticed him trying to get into her mind, the voices blocked him out screaming 'intruder' in their whispers. Frenzied and undernourished, there was no way of effectively reading her scattered mind. But that wasn't what caught her attention, not all of it anyway. She had been just sitting there, smiling; when her walking stick was suddenly swiped from underneath her. "Invisible tentacles!" Yeah, that made no sense...

But she didn't hit the ground, nope; her little poke' body was up in the air. Being held but in the air nevertheless. "Ooh! Look! Look! I'm a butterfree!" A giggle escaped her. Her arms were spread out like a birds rather than a butterfly.

Now take a quiz her ears would read. Quiz? Why must she do that? He did not believe her claims, how saddening. Oh well. "Questions, questions. Everyone has questions. The voices ask, the bugs ask, the trees ask, the rocks ask..." Machina mumbled to herself, "Home of rocks? Oh home of many shapes. Windows hm? Maiden's room? My room? Sister's room has a window me thinks. Ah, so does Dear Heart!" More giggles ensued, the girl originally sidetracking from the question. Instead she decided to spin in midair, flapping her arms about like a bird while giggling in some strange manner.

"But I cannot tell you." Machina suddenly said, "The attendants complain. Noisy, noisy, noisy they are. That's why I don't stay. Poor Duran, he likes buildings. Poor, poor Duran. A trapped little egg like the treasure I found." A pause, "If you ask the little torches maybe they will tell. They like to feel smart, those little torches. But they might just hit you with sharp sticks instead." Another round of chuckles ensued, this time with no words to follow.

Ok, it wasn't cute anymore. ShOzdin sighed to himself as the small pokemon began giggling, enjoying the flight. This wasn't going to work. the Braixen was clinnically insane. But at least she wasn't triggering his usual dislike of people. "Hey, you like this? Yeah, me too...hmm...ever wanted to dive off the top of a tree into the ocean? but the trees are always too far away...?" As he spoke, ShOzdin floated them backwards till they were above the deeper part of the ocean, and lifted the two of them even higher above the island, till the crater they had made earlier was just a speck on the golden beach...

Protect! Protect! As Ozdin through protection over Machina and then himself, he felt something stir in the back of his mind. As he through the second one on himself, it failed, and suddenly he remembered:

Ozdin screamed.








They were no longer being held aloft. They were falling, and quickly. Machina would be fine because of the protection, but Ozdin's had failed and they were very high up. Sho rushed around Ozdin, trying to get his attention, but the young man was unresponsive, stuck in a bloodcurdling scream. After several seconds he suddenly stopped. But is wasn't that he'd stopped trying to screaming: his lungs had run out of air. His face was frozen in look of horror while he held his ears, falling downward faster and faster.

Sho gave up on getting Ozdin and rushed over to Machina, who was still falling. He quickly sketched a crude yet clear picture of a fire with air flying up from it, obviously an updraft. He then flew down to a ways bellow his other half and drew a giant X where he clearly wanted the fire to be. If they slowed Oz enough, he could potentially survive. they WERE falling over the ocean, after all...

OOC: this is not character suicide; I just realized this was the perfect dramatic timing for his downside to trigger. Please save him...

"Off the evergreens? Why yes! So bouncy and delightful their arms are. They like dirt much more than sand unfortunately..." The girl agreed. Her eyes followed the movement of the land beneath them, watching them head more toward the waters instead of the whole in the ground. Not only that but the circle became a speck, so tiny it was down there. That meant they were going up right? Machina had never flown before and it was certainly exhilarating. She had a pretty good idea of what the boy was going to do, especially after a barrier filtered around her. She had excitedly clapping her paws together until a shrill shriek literally made her go into a scratching frenzy.

Thankfully as they were in the air, her paws met nothing... Next thing she knew, they were falling. At a very rapid pace. His scream had sent her mind into a frenzy, all the voices hissing in panic. Her mind was a hive of frenzied combee, completely killing her senses of both reality and dream. Her eyes were seeing things that were not supposed to be... like the sky. It had turned... purple, and the land down below was a deep crimson red with an even dark ocean. The girl could only stare wide eyed, falling completely silent and blank. She looked like a falling statue, unable to comprehend what was around her. It lasted for far too long it seemed, having barely regained her senses in time to see the strange creature which was Falling Star's other half trying to tell her something.

The screams had stopped, that must've been why her mind fell into a slush of delicate ice... Machina worried for the voices in her head, they were so quiet... So slow, almost still. It felt like slow motion when the girl tried to follow the Spirit Painter's plan. She had never thrown fire before, let alone breathed or touched it. Duran was no fire spirit after all. So what was she to do? She reached for the twig in her tail, thinking back to the time when the stick was like a staff or wand for focusing magic on.

Thinking it like Hypnosis, Machina swirled her twig around while focusing on the tip of it. Burn, burn, burn... Turn to a tornado of flame! Her mind chanted in their slow slushes. Soon enough the twig singed red before burst into a flame; running downward in a thin spiral. She had pointed at the X so all she could do now was pray to the Goddess that the spirit was correct in it's methods.

The flaming tornado spun around Ozdin, creating an upward spiral that would have lifted him up, had he not already had so much downward momentum. Instead, it slowed his decent, even almost stopping it, before he passed out the cyclone's bottom and continued falling, now from only a few stories up.

As the free-falling pokemon hit the water, Machina's protection broke, saving her from the damage from the huge height. Ozdin, however, hit the water like a rock, and continued down till he was almost at the bottom. But the impact had done more than bring him to a stop: the young man's hands relaxed, his lungs attempted to inhale, and he began drowning.

Aware of where he was, Ozdin quickly swam back to the surface, not wanting to risk triggering those memories again with another move. As his head breached the surface, The artist gasped, and looked around worriedly. What about Machina? But she had been fine, and Sho was busy trying to draw him over to the shore. Panic slowly draining, Ozdin realized his arms and legs felt like he'd been laying in the sun all day.

"...What...What happened...My head...agh, I'm covered in burns...are you ok, Machina?"
